Latin@ Literatures is currently looking for original stencils/cover art for the latinoliteratures.org website rotating cover.
Each issue has displayed a unique design. We would like to keep that tradition.
With the exception of the Latin@ Literatures logo (Issue #3 cover) and Issue #4 cover, the past covers have been borrowed from the walls and the streets of our barrios in an attempt to promote the anonymous statements of those artists. Our good intentions, however, have faced some obstacles. Prior to building Issue #3 we became aware that some of those past anonymous statements used on our website became commercial art and were no longer available to the public. We would like to avoid these situations in the future by inviting all Latinx visual artists to submit their original stencils to Latin@ Literatures directly.
Latin@ Literatures cannot pay you for your art work, but we can promote you! We will include along with your artwork, a biographical entry and links to a personal website or gallery, as well as promotion through our social media networks.
Ideally, your artwork would be ready for display as a cover design and it will adhere to our stencil/punk aesthetic. We may manipulate your stencil/artwork to make it fit our website’s design. Below is the Issue #4 cover as a template.
To submit an image for consideration, please email a .jpeg formatted image (optimal resolution at least 1920 x 800 / 200 dpi), to info@latinoliteratures.org. Please headline your email as “Cover art submission.” Please remember that while we may work with higher resolutions our email servers may reject larger files. In such a case, please send us a smaller version of your file for consideration before making arrangements for a larger file transfer. Your submission will be considered by the editorial committee for current and future issues.
General submissions for cover art/stencils is now open!
